British Nurses in Hong Kong in the early Twentieth Century
I'm delighted to post the first article on the 'Women's lives in early Hongkong' page, written by Diane O'Hare. In it she looks at the careers of nurses brought out from the UK for three-year contracts. Diane has a background in archives and library management and is currently really busy as chair of The Helena May, but has kindly found time to research and write this fascinating essay.
Diane's article can be found under the Insight tab of socialhistoryhk.com along with some contemporary comment about the conditions for nurses appeared in the press in 1913.
